Enjoy the unusual shape and the surprising finish of these coasters that were made in Tonaltepec, a Mixtec community of Oaxaca whose inhabitants maintain their millenary tradition of ceramics and who share it with care. Use these to hold seeds, nuts, coffee or what ever else may come to you.

These pottery pieces are among the few in the world that use vegetable pigments for decoration. The dark brown color of the stains is achieved when, upon pulling them out of the kiln, at a temperature close to 900°C, the artisan applies an ink made from cactus and oak bark.

Coasters come in sets of two.

Style: Tonaltepec

Material: Oaxacan Clay
